Di Resta: Contract talk does play on your mind

Paul di Resta admits that waiting to discover his F1 future is playing on his mind
Paul di Resta has admitted that the uncertainty about his F1 future does play on his mind as the Scot waits to discover if he will be retained by Force India for the 2012 season.

Despite an impressive debut campaign with the Silverstone-based team, di Resta has yet to be handed a deal for next year, with team boss Vijay Mallya saying he would wait until December and the end of the season before naming his drivers for 2012.

Di Resta's team-mate Adrian Sutil has already said he wants to know what his future holds sooner rather than later [See separate story HERE] and the Scot himself admitted that it wasn't the ideal situation to be in.

"It does play on your mind, I won't deny it,” he told the Guardian. “Vijay is the boss and he decides. You have got to keep showing the results, maybe show them even a bit more.

"I signed up this year to do a full season and there are still three races to go. We have to make sure we try to secure sixth place in the constructors' championship. That is something Vijay has been quite outspoken about."

Di Resta was speaking ahead of the biggest event of the season for Force India at the new Buddh International Circuit and he admitted it was 'massive' weekend for the team.

"It's going to be a big event,” he said. “There's build up on all the TV and adverts are huge. We will try to put on a good show. Our team runs on Indian ownership and without them we wouldn't be here.

"This is a massive race for us in a very special place. It's taking Formula One to a new culture and it's a great opportunity to put on a great show for the fans."

Rob, there is/was a very interesting article (how Force India got new owners without being sold by Christian Sylt) which I recommend reading as it proves a lot of people were wrong and that includes me.
