Senna: I haven't shown my best yet

Bruno Senna says there is more to come from him in F1
Bruno Senna insists that he has yet to show his true potential with the Renault team, five races after replacing Nick Heidfeld in the Enstone-based team's line-up.

Senna made his debut at Spa, qualifying an impressive seventh before a mistake at the first corner saw him finish down in 13th place.

A ninth place finish in the following race at Monza saw the Brazilian score his first F1 points, while he has managed to make it through to Q3 on three occasions thus far.

Despite an encouraging start to his time in a Renault race seat however, Senna insisted there was plenty more to come and said he wasn't yet competing 'at the same level as in GP2'.

"The race craft is still coming along after not racing for so long," he told The National. "I think I am doing OK, but I don't think I am at the racing level I was at when I was at my best in GP2. I think with a few more miles under my belt I will become much more competitive so I do think there is more to come.

"I have high expectations of myself and I sometimes have to remind myself that I have only done five races this season, while the others have had 15 races. I am getting better with each race and gaining experience, but I do forget that I have not done as much racing as the others."

Senna added that, despite not yet being at his best, he was enjoying being in a team where he can display his potential after a difficult debut campaign with HRT last year.

"It has been fantastic and more than I could have dreamed of at the start of the year," he said. "I think we have done the maximum we can in qualifying, and we scored points in Italy and generally I think it has gone well."
