Schumacher looks to ‘continue positive trend’

Michael Schumacher: We have enjoyed some good results finishing in the top six over the last few races, and I would love to continue this trend in Brazil and bring the season to a positive end…
Mercedes' Michael Schumacher has said that he is keen to build on recent good results at the final round of the F1 2011 world championship in Brazil.

Schumacher has yet to score a podium since his return to F1 last year, but having finished in the top six four times in the last seven races, 2011 is seen by most to be a return to form in the his comeback. Clearly, the German will be looking for more of the same at Interlagos.

“We have enjoyed some good results finishing in the top six over the last few races, and I would love to continue this trend in Brazil and bring the season to a positive end," he said.

The seven-time world champion was also quick to acknowledge effort that the Mercedes team has put in towards the squad's improvement in the second half of 2011.

“The team have worked very hard to improve our performance with the car that we have available to us," he said, "and it would be a fitting reward for them.”

Schumacher has had a great deal of success at most tracks he's visited in F1, however his last win, and indeed, his last podium at the Interlagos track was back in 2002 in a Ferrari. Nevertheless, he stated that he relishes visiting the  Brazilian circuit.

“The final race of the season is approaching fast and I am looking forward to the weekend in Brazil," he said. "There is always a really good atmosphere at the Interlagos track and it's one of the traditional venues for Formula One to end the season.”

@Taz , Yip ... hoping for rain too. I have pretty much given up hope for Merc GP this year. Pity really that the car has been so cr@p. I still feel that given a competitive car 'the old man' could still prove a few critics wrong. Here's hoping for next year :-)

@MikeG Would agree, the car needs to be a lot better, I think they are getting the maximum out of the car...more or less, thats why I suggested rain as it's a bit of a leveller and both are pretty quick in the wet...Schumacher especially.
