Charouz to get practice run

HRT to run Jan Charouz in Friday practice at Interlagos
HRT announced that Czech driver Jan Charouz will take part in the opening free practice session of the F1 season finale in Brazil – marking his maiden appearance in an F1 race weekend.

Charouz, who tested for the team in Abu Dhabi while also enjoying a run with Renault, will replace Tonio Liuzzi for the first session on Friday at Interlagos in what will be his first run at the Sao Paulo circuit.

“It's a great feeling to be taking part in a Formula 1 free practice session,” he said. “I will be driving for HRT F1 Team once again after testing with them last Wednesday in Abu Dhabi and obtaining my Superlicence which allows me to take part in the first practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix. I am really happy to have this opportunity and would like to thank my father for his great support. I can't forget to also thank my sponsors who make this possible.

“I hope to do well in Brazil although I am aware that it will not be easy. Interlagos is a circuit I have never raced at but one that I have tried out on the simulator and really liked it there. Hopefully the difference in experience with my team-mate isn't too telling but, regardless, I will give it my best shot.”

Team boss Colin Kolles welcomed Charouz back into the team for his practice run and said he was confident the Czech youngster would do a good job.

“Jan is an exciting up and coming driver as he proved when he drove for us at the Young Driver test last week in Abu Dhabi,” he said. “He did a good job and completed more than enough kilometres in an F1 to be granted the Superlicence. He will step in for Tonio in FP1 as he looks to continue learning and I'm sure that he will be up to speed in no time. We are glad to give him the opportunity to make his Formula 1 debut and I'm sure that it will be a positive experience.”

Charouz gets Interlagos practice run q. WHY, WHY, WHY. a. MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. Talent. Zero. What has F1 come to, Jan Charouz finished 25th in Renault World Series this season and he gets a Friday drive with HRT This makes a mockery of F1. Shame on Kolles and shame on rich fathers for paying to get their spoilt kids on track. What a turn off.

@sodesu, I think you are wrong about the qualification for a superlicence not that it makes a difference as you said, The requirements are the driver must be either the reigning champion in a lower category of motor sport, for example Formula 3, Formula 2, or GP2 Series or World Series, or must have consistently finished well in these categories. For example, a driver finishing in the first three positions five times within the last two years in GP2 will be eligible for a Super Licence. The rules seem to be able to be bent if enough $ are involved, Jan Charouz has never got anywhere near these requirements it devalues F1 yet again Money talks
