Strong start for Force India

Force India on the pace in Friday practice in Brazil
Force India enjoyed one of its best Fridays of the F1 season after Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta posted top ten times at Interlagos.

Sutil missed the opening session of the weekend in Sao Paulo to allow Nico Hulkenberg to spend time on track at the circuit where he secured a shock pole position last year, with the German quickly up to speed when he took over for FP2.

Ninth quickest after his only 90 minutes of running, Sutil said he was pleased with the performance of the VJM04 and optimistic about his chances for the remainder of the weekend.

“It was quite a good afternoon session,” he said. “I concentrated on evaluating the different tyre compounds and getting a good balance with the car. I was quite happy on the soft tyre: there was a lot of grip and the car felt good. I also think we looked competitive over the long runs. In terms of the balance we are not too far away from where we need to be so I'm quite optimistic for tomorrow.”

Team-mate di Resta meanwhile was just behind Sutil in tenth place, having also run inside the top ten in the opening session of the weekend.

“I got my first proper feel for Interlagos today and I have to say I really like the track,” he said. “It's a very short lap, but there's a nice rhythm to the place and it's quite technical, too. As for the programme today, we had a lot of work to get through, but it was quite straightforward and we've collected lots of data.

“In fact, it's probably one of the best Fridays we've had in terms of collecting data – although it remains to be seen how useful that information will be if the weather changes over the weekend.”

I would hope that lotus renault (the black ones. Can I call the other ones Caterham now?)would take a look at force India and see how a professional team moves up the grid. I do take an interest i this team now because it has done such a great job since it became Indian owned. Just hope Sutil is not shown the door as he has played a major part in developing this car. He is like Webber. Not the fastest driver on the grid but can give the feedback needed to build a car while picking up points on the track.
