Adrian Sutil has admitted that talks have been held with the Williams team as he looks to secure his place on the grid for the 2012 F1 season.

Sutil has yet to be confirmed in a drive for the new campaign, with the rumour mill tipping him to be replaced in the Force India line-up by test driver Nico Hulkenberg.

Options elsewhere for the German have been reduced by confirmation that Romain Grosjean will race for Lotus next season, leaving Williams as the most viable option available if he is to compete in the sport again next year.

Speaking to Speed-Magazin, Sutil confirmed that he has spoken to Williams about the possibility of teaming up with Pastor Maldonado for 2012.

"Certainly there has been talks with several teams for quite some time, but nothing is signed," he said. "Williams is certainly one of the teams that have a seat. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the discussions to date. But we hope that there is a decision by mid-December."
