Kolles to leave HRT F1

HRT F1 Team and Colin Kolles part ways for 2012

Colin Kolles will no longer act as team principal for the HRT F1 team, it has been confirmed.

A statement from the Spanish squad today said that his exit had been prompted by 'the new direction' the outfit is moving in and the decision to shift the teams headquarters from Germany to Spain.

The full release read:

“Spanish outfit HRT F1 Team and Dr. Colin Kolles have reached an agreement to end their co-operation and therefore the team principal will abandon his post on the 15th of December 2011.

“This is due to the new direction that the team has taken and the decision of the new management to move the team headquarters to Spain.

“HRT F1 Team would like to thank Dr. Colin Kolles for his work and dedication throughout these past two years and wish him the best in his future projects.”

Kolles successor was not named.

Not a Kolles fan but at least he got them to the grid. I'm going to get stick for this but Spain is hardly the hotbed of F1 technology or car technology, Seat's are just VW's/Audi's with a different (worse) body and interior.

A shame for Kolles, he has done a good job since he came in, with virtually no resources at all. HRT needed a miracle to get on the grid in 2010 and he performed it. And although they had the disaster in Melbourne this year, they recovered well and were in front of Virgin often enough through the second half of the season. Oli
