Ferrari to use new car at first test

Ferrari to start winter testing with F1 2012 machine

Ferrari will be ready to start testing with its new car at the very first test at Jerez on February 7, it has been confirmed.

The Scuderia's communications director Luca Colajanni also added that the F1 2012 machine will mark a 'clean break' with the past, as the Maranello-based outfit looks to bounce back from a disappointing 2011, in which it took only one victory, when Fernando Alonso triumphed at the British Grand Prix in the summer.

“The new Ferrari F1 car will be presented in early February, in time to take part in the first test session ahead of the new season,” Colajanni told Autosprint.

“At the moment it is not important to say whether the new project is going to be extreme. For sure, it will be a clean break with the past, a very different programme, because it aims to win and it marks a change of mentality by the entire team.”

"For sure, it will be a clean break with the past, a very different programme, because it aims to win and it marks a change of mentality by the entire team." So they weren't aiming to win before?
