Pirelli link for Petrov

Vitaly Petrov linked to Pirelli after appearing at 2012 launch
Vitaly Petrov has been linked to a role with Pirelli having appeared at the launch of the tyres that the company will provide for the 2012 F1 season.

Petrov has been linked to a role with Caterham having been ousted from his drive with Renault/Lotus over the winter – with the team instead electing to pair Romain Grosjean with the returning Kimi Raikkonen.

The Russian driver was a surprise attendee at the Pirelli launch in Abu Dhabi, and now looks set to take part in further events with the tyre supplier.

"The cooperation between Vitaly and Pirelli will continue in March, when he will take part in a major Pirelli event in St. Petersburg," his manager Oksana Kosachenko said.

Petrov himself however was keen to stress that no deal with Pirelli has yet been signed as he works to try and find himself a role within the F1 paddock for the year ahead.

"Today they asked me to come and be part of this event, so I drive some cars, talk to some people and work with them," he was quoted by ESPNF1. "Now in Russia, Pirelli is working quite close and maybe in the future we can do some good deals. So maybe while I will not test Pirelli, maybe we can work together in different parts."
