Berger: With Newey, Red Bull will keep winning

Adrian Newey is key to the success of Red Bull in the coming years says Gerhard Berger
Former F1 racer Gerhard Berger has said that Red Bull Racing will remain one of the team's to beat in F1 as long as Adrian Newey remains in place as its technical director.

Newey has played a major role in the team securing back-to-back titles, with his RB6 and RB7 models emerging as the class of the field as Sebastian Vettel secured the 2010 and 2011 championship crowns.

Berger himself has first hand experience of Newey's talents from his time of co-owner of the Toro Rosso team, which used a Red Bull designed car through until 2009, and speaking to Auto Motor und Sport, he admitted that the technical chief would be key to Red Bull's success going forwards.

“As long as they have Adrian Newey and his technical staff, Red Bull will have either the fastest or the second fastest car,” he said. “And with [Sebastian] Vettel in one of the cars, with so much confidence and experience now, he can make the difference even with the second best car.”

While Berger tipped one German to continue being successful however, he was less positive about the chances of Michael Schumacher as the seven-time title winner heads into the final year of his three-year deal with Mercedes.

“I don't think he's going to extend the contract,” he said. “At some point he has to get tired. He has no chance against Rosberg. He will have to admit that at more than forty years of age he can't beat a young driver at Rosberg's level.”

Yes Berger you are right Newey is the man that is making Vettel look good, without him Red Bull will be in trouble, love how he had manipulated the off the throttle blown diffuser and i'm sure he will come up with a alternative Aero design to replace the now outlawed system.
