Williams forced to cancel shakedown

Poor weather forces Williams to cancel first run of the FW34
Williams has been forced to cancel the shakedown of its new F1 car due to poor weather conditions in Spain.

Test driver Valtteri Bottas had been due to carry out the first run of the FW34 at the IDIADA testing facility but the poor weather than has hit the Catalonia region forced the team to amend its plans.

Rather than try to complete the shakedown run today [Friday], the team has instead headed to Jerez for the launch of the car and first test of the winter next week.

"There are no plans to run today,” a spokesperson told GPUpdate. “The car has now gone on to Jerez for running on Tuesday."

Ferrari was also forced to cancel the shakedown of its new car in Italy due to snowy conditions, meaning Force India's Paul di Resta was the first man to drive a 2012 F1 car following the team's launch event at Silverstone.
