McLaren has complete the shakedown of its new MP4-27 after Oliver Turvey became the first driver to get behind the wheel of the car in Spain.
Turvey, who remains a
McLaren test and development driver for the year ahead, took part in the test on Saturday ahead of the first pre-season test of the campaign at
Jerez this week.
That test will see race drivers
Jenson Button and
Lewis Hamilton share the driving as they sample the car for the first time.
“Was an absolute honour to be the first person to drive the
McLaren MP4-27 today,” Turvey wrote on
Twitter, “thoroughly enjoyed every moment!
“It ran well but hard to know how good the performance will be until we get on track next week in Jerez!”
Turvey's run in the car comes after Paul di Resta completed a shakedown of the new
Force India at Silverstone, although both
Ferrari and
Williams were forced to delay their maiden runs due to poor weather in Italy and Spain.
