Alguersuari confirms no F1 role

No F1 role for Jaime Alguersuari during the 2012 season after Toro Rosso departure
Jaime Alguersuari has confirmed that he will have no role in F1 during the 2012 season after his departure from Toro Rosso.

The Spaniard lost his drive after the team elected to field a new-look line-up for the year ahead, with a lack of options available elsewhere on the grid.

While team-mate Sebastien Buemi clinched a testing role with Red Bull, Alguersuari found himself linked with HRT and with a test role at Mercedes after reports suggested that a sponsor was keen to see him act as reserve behind Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg.

Alguersuari has however now revealed that he will not be present in the paddock during the year ahead having failed to earn a role with any of the twelve teams, with his plans for 2012 due to be released soon.

“You will not see me there this year but I am happy with the super experience that Formula One has given me,” he wrote on his Twitter account. “Thank you all for your support.”
