Scuderia
Toro Rosso has completed a busy day of launches after unveiling the STR7 at
Jerez in Spain.
The team became the third to launch today after Sauber and
Red Bull Racing, with the new car due to make its debut on track on the first day of pre-season testing tomorrow.
Like all cars seen thus far, with the exception of the new McLaren, the STR7 has been designed with a stepped nose and features backing from NOVA Chemicals, with the company confirming an extension of its deal with the team ahead of the launch.
“Appropriately for a Canadian company, NOVA Chemicals came on board with Scuderia
Toro Rosso at last year's Canadian Grand Prix,” team boss Franz Tost said. “We are delighted that they have extended their sponsorship to cover the 2012 season.
“It is all the more pleasing, because NOVA Chemicals and Scuderia
Toro Rosso share similar values of innovation, teamwork and a focus on safety and performance."
The STR7, the third car to be developed 'in house' by
Toro Rosso will be driven by Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne this season after the team elected to replace both
Sebastien Buemi and
Jaime Alguersuari over the winter.
