Bottas ready for Friday outings

Valtteri Bottas excited by F1 chance during 2012
Valtteri Bottas says he is excited by the prospect of competing in Friday practice during a number of races in the 2012 F1 season.

The Finn remains in the role of test and reserve driver for the 2012 campaign behind Pastor Maldonado and newcomer Bruno Senna at Williams, and it set to take part in first practice at 15 races over the course of the year.

Speaking following the launch of the new FW34 in Spain, Bottas admitted that the chance to complete meaningful running throughout the year was a huge boost and would give him the chance to gain a better understanding of the sport.

“I am really excited about the year ahead and grateful to the team for giving me this opportunity,” he said. “I will be driving one practice session at 15 races which will give me some proper mileage with the car. This will give me a better understanding of the car as well as an insight into what happens at a race weekend.

“I will still spend a lot of time at the factory preparing for the practice sessions and helping the team to develop the car over the season.”
