PICTURES: F1 2012 nose comparison

See images of the stepped noses, adopted by eight of the nine teams - including Ferrari and Red Bull - that have so far launched their 2012 F1 cars

The stepped nose has been one of the talking points since Caterham F1 unveiled its F1 2012 car at the end of last month. Since then and in the countdown to this week's first pre-season test at Jerez in Spain, eight other teams have also launched their new machines, and only McLaren has bucked the stepped nose trend. Here, just for a bit of fun, you can see and compare each nose – and if you want you can even play spot the difference!

You can also check out loads of other pictures from the first pre-season test by clicking here.

This is one I posted earlier, but I think it is more relevant here. I think this design was drawn on a napkin in the paddock diner then passed around the table, fortunately McLaren weren't present Out of the ugly's in my opinion Red Bull the worst Lotus the most acceptable What will Mercedes come out with

What struck me looking through these pictures was the section that hold the front wing for the MaClaren, is so much shorter than everyone else, looks a lot sturdier.
