HRT to miss first Barcelona test

HRT to miss the first of two tests in Barcelona to focus on getting the new F112 ready for the second session at Catalunya
Having run its 2011 car in the opening pre-season test of the year at Jerez, HRT has confirmed that it will sit out the second test of the campaign in Barcelona.

The team had hoped to debut its 2012 car in the first of two sessions planned at Catalunya, but was forced to amend its plans when it was revealed that the F112 has failed to pass the required FIA crash tests [See separate story HERE].

In line with new regulations for the current season, teams must pass all of the crash tests before being allowed to take part in testing.

According to GPUpdate, the team will not take the F111 to either of the Barcelona tests, electing to miss the first one to focus on making sure the F112 is ready to then make its debut when the second test kicks off on 1 March.

Its easy to make snide remarks about a small team trying to make it to the grid, not so easy doing it. This team operated on a shoestring for 2 years and still got the same points as Caterham who spend hundreds of millions I say good luck to them
