Vettel earns top sports award

Sebastian Vettel becomes a winner of a top sporting award in Germany
Sebastian Vettel has been revealed as the latest recipient of the highest sporting award on offer in his native Germany – the Silver Laurel Leaf.

The Red Bull driver has been handed the honour following his dominant title defence last year, when he joined a select band of drivers to become back-to-back F1 champion.

Vettel will receive the award in Berlin next week once he has concluded his running the new RB8 in the second pre-season test of the year in Barcelona.

The defending champion will be at the wheel of the car on the opening two days of running on Tuesday and Wednesday before handing the car over to team-mate Mark Webber.

Vettel joins Michael Schumacher as a winner of the Silver Laurel Leaf, with the Mercedes driver having taken the award after securing his second F1 title back in 1995.

@ronswhatiffantasyland Still doing the "what if" syndrome - FGS do you really think the F1 records are going to descrbe SV as a less than in a perfect car? He was part of the TEAM that developed it. PS: Sports Guys always say "the more I practise the luckier I get" Roll on Australia when we can get back to Factual Posts!
