Haug rubbishes rumours linking Hamilton to Mercedes

Norbert Haug: Lewis was and is a Mercedes man, but there are no agreements or conversations in that direction.
Norbert Haug has said there is no truth to rumours linking Lewis Hamilton to Mercedes.

Hamilton's contract with McLaren expires at the end of this season and with Michael Schumacher's deal also coming to an end at the end of this year, it has been suggested that the 2008 F1 world champion could make the switch, although why he would do that, given the current level of competitiveness of the two teams remains to be seen.

“I can dismiss that speculation out of hand, as it was only ever conjured by putting two and two together,” Haug told Sport Bild. “Lewis was and is a Mercedes man, but there are no agreements or conversations in that direction.

“At the moment we have one interest only - making our car as fast and reliable as possible, and then we'll see where we stand. Only then will we talk to Michael about a possible extension.”

Every team will say they are not interested while a driver is still contracted to their current team. Even if he's looking to move nothing will be said until at least September, Italian GP is a usual date for things to start slipping out. 1 race is a long time in F1 and anything can happen between now and the end of the season. Anyone who thinks that teams have already decided to not consider Hamilton have either not been following F1 for long or they are anti-Hamilton trolls.

Jose, why is the guys colour relevant? I thought Dr King's dream was to do with people judging everyone by the content of their character. Did I pick that up wrong or perhaps you just don't agree with that belief?
