Barrichello would 'never say never' to F1

5 April 2012

Despite his switch to the IndyCar Series, Rubens Barrichello has refused to rule out ever returning to the F1 grid, saying he would be prepared to rejoin the grid if the right deal came along.

The Brazilian found himself without a drive after being replaced at Williams and then inked a deal to compete in IndyCar with the KV Racing team.

However, in an interview with SporTV, Barrichello said he would have to consider returning to F1 if an offer was made from a leading team on the grid.

"I'm completely open (about it), it would be something to think about," he said. "In my first Twitter (post) after Williams called me, I made it clear that I was sad and that my future was open. I think that's the way it has to be. I think anything can happen. I'm not saying it will happen, but I have to be ready."

Barrichello has been mentioned as one possible replacement for fellow Brazilian Felipe Massa at Ferrari and despite showing his support for the man who came within moments of winning the title back in 2008, Barrichello said he would consider a return to the Italian team.

"I want the fans to understand that I don't have any hard feelings," he said, referring to the manner of his own departure from the famous Italian outfit. "If (Ferrari) called me today to go drive for them I would go. It was the best team I've ever driven for in terms of support, of creativity. But there were definitely some spicy episodes."
