Senna seeks to maintain momentum

Bruno Senna hopes for more points for Williams in Bahrain while Pastor Maldonado also seeks to score
Bruno Senna says he is eager to maintain the momentum he has built up in the past two races when F1 returns to Bahrain this weekend.

The Brazilian picked up his first points for Williams with a solid sixth place finish in Malaysia and then secured seventh in China last weekend, leaving him ninth in the standings.

Williams has already scored noticeably more points than it did during the 2011 season and Senna said he was eager to keep his scoring run alive at the venue where he made his F1 debut back in 2010 with HRT.

“Bahrain is a challenging track with a number of long straights followed by big braking areas so the car has to be set up differently to many other circuits,” he said. “Cars with a big DRS effect will have an advantage so it will be interesting to see how teams will perform. We have good momentum from the first three races of the season and hopefully we can carry that into this race.”

Team-mate Pastor Maldonado secured his first points of the season in China last weekend after late retirements in the opening two races of the campaign while running inside the top ten, and the Venezuelan said he too was eager to bring home more points for the team.

“I like the circuit layout, and it should suit our car because of the hot conditions,” he said. “It is also a challenging circuit for tyre degradation so we need to prepare for that. It was satisfying to score my first points of the season in China and hopefully I can pick up some more points in Bahrain.”
