Williams duo hope to score

Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna eager to score in Barcelona
Williams pair Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna say they are hopeful of a return to the points when the F1 season resumes this weekend in Spain.

The pair failed to make it to the finish last time out in Bahrain and head into the Catalunya race eager to return to the form that saw both pick up points in the previous race in China.

Like its rivals, the Grove-based outfit is set to introduce a series of upgrades this weekend and Maldonado said he was hopeful they would lead to the team picking up solid points from the first European race of the year.

“We have done a lot of running here pre-season so hopefully that experience will help this weekend,” he said. “It is a very enjoyable circuit to drive, technical but still quick with turns three and nine a real test. It is also difficult to set the car up here because there are high, medium and slow speed corners.

“We have been working hard since the last race and hopefully the updates we bring will lead to some good points.”

Team-mate Senna agreed that it would be interesting to see the progress made at a circuit that teams know well from pre-season testing.

“Barcelona is one of my favourite tracks and I get a lot of support there so I am really looking forward to the race,” he said. “It is a very tough circuit physically and mentality, with plenty of high speed corners and a technical last sector which separates the drivers.

“Lots of cars will come to Barcelona with new parts so it will be interesting to see who has progressed.”
