Red Bull Racing's Sebastian Vettel was somewhat frustrated following practice today for the Monaco Grand Prix.

Vettel was ninth fastest this morning in the opening session, his best lap a 1 minute 17.222 seconds, which left him almost a second off the pace. This afternoon he ended up in a similar position and was tenth, although rain did disrupt proceedings and severely limited the amount of dry running that was possible.

"We didn't learn too much from today due to the conditions. It wasn't ideal as this morning we had a red flag and then it rained this afternoon; as a result it's hard to say where we are," said the 2010 and 2011 F1 World Champion.

"We didn't have a lot of grip due to the rain, it was very slippery on track and there were a lot of cars out at the same time - but it was the same for everyone.

"The weather can change quickly here and now you see there is sunshine again already."

Mark Webber meanwhile also had a difficult day in the sister RB8, finishing 13th in FP1 and seventh in FP2.

"It was not easy for us, as for all the teams today, and we've got some work to do in the next 24 hours. There are clearly some very quick cars and we need to see where we can improve," added the Aussie.

"Obviously it was limited running for everyone, so we didn't do as much as we would have liked; but that's how it went today and Monaco's like that - it throws up some challenges.

"The track's quite inconsistent in terms of grip - but we did learn some things today," Webber concluded.
