HAVE YOUR SAY: Who shone in Monaco?

28 May 2012

Although a late rain shower did its best to inject some spice into proceedings, the 2012 Monaco Grand Prix isn't likely to be one that will go down in history as one of the most enthralling seen in F1 – not that Mark Webber is likely to be complaining after becoming the sixth winner in as many races this season.

Starting from pole, Webber held off the challenge of a train of cars behind to take his second win on the Monaco streets and continue a topsy-turvy season where the only thing that can be predicted is that things will be unpredictable.

Webber drove well throughout the weekend but behind him on track, there was another strong performance from Nico Rosberg as he continued to fly the flag for Mercedes, while a podium for Fernando Alonso ensured that he left Monaco as the championship leader.

Sebastian Vettel put in the drive of a champion to come from ninth to fourth with Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa rounding out the top six; the latter scoring his best result of the season to date.

While the top six were ultimately quite evenly matched, there were some impressive performances further down the pack, with Sergio Perez coming close to a top ten finish despite starting from the back of the field and having to take a drive-through penalty. Heikki Kovalainen also impressed for Caterham as he kept Jenson Button at bay for much of the race having jumped ahead at the start.

That's eight possible options for the top driver from the Monaco GP but of course you may not agree.
