Sebastian Vettel is to drive a preview lap of the course at the Grand Prix of America next week.

The Red Bull driver will head to New Jersey immediately after this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix, with the outing coming on Monday, June 11, at 2.30 pm [local time]. He will then take part in a press conference with Leo Hindery, race promoter and Keith St. Clair, Infiniti's director of global marketing and communications.

Felix Roque, West New York's mayor and Richard Turner, Weehawken's mayor will also be in attendance.

The inaugural race on the 3.2-mile course, which will run on existing streets in Port Imperial, Weehawken and West New York, along the Hudson River and at the top of the Palisades, with the New York City skyline as the backdrop, is scheduled to take place in June 2013.

The announcement meanwhile is a boost for the event, especially as F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone recently said he was still waiting for different parts of the contract to be agreed [see separate story - HERE].
