The Lotus F1 team will launch this year's Grand Prix Ball at the Hurlingham Club in style, using one of its cars to start the proceedings.
Set in the grand surroundings of the Hurlingham's 54 acres on the banks of the Thames, the gala dinner will see a who's who of the F1 world in attendance. Last years' red carpet saw guests such as 1996 world champion Damon Hill join other celebrity names as the Ball, held on the Thursday prior to the British Grand Prix, gets the Silverstone event underway.
A rare showcase of F1 cars old and new will greet guests upon arrival at the venue, while Lotus, as well as providing the only live running car in London before the race, will also play the national anthem on its engine before dinner.
Headlining the ball this year will be singer Sophie Ellis Bextor and ex-F1 team boss-turned- BBC
analyst Eddie Jordan, who will take to the stage with his band. The entire evening is held in aid of children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent, and those who can't make it on the night will get the chance to watch it live thanks to Sky Sports F1
, which will broadcast from the Hurlingham Club from on the evening.
