Nico Rosberg predicts a strong weekend for Mercedes in the European Grand Prix
Rosberg expects strong weekend
Nico Rosberg says he is hopeful of continuing his strong recent run of form when F1 returns to European soil next weekend in Valencia.

The Mercedes driver has scored more points than anyone else in the past five races after opening his victory account in China and will aim to maintain that kind of form in the European Grand Prix on a circuit he expects to suit his team.

"Valencia is a pretty cool city and it's always nice to visit there,” he said. “The track is another street circuit but it's quite a unique one as it is quicker and has a more open feel than somewhere like Monaco or Singapore. The layout is also kind of like Montreal so it should be a circuit which suits our car.

“I was at the factory this week and I know how hard everyone is working to improve the car, so we will hope for a strong weekend in Valencia to repay all of their efforts."

Mercedes motorsport boss Norbert Haug agreed that a continuation of Rosberg's recent form had to be the target for the race, alongside better reliability for the sister car of Michael Schumacher.

“Our priority for the next race is to achieve the same standard of reliability for Michael's car that we have seen this year with Nico's, which has completed all racing laps so far,” he said. “Since his win at the Chinese Grand Prix on 15 April, no other driver has scored more points than Nico. The target is to continue that trend."

Just to say, I didn't realise Rosberg was younger than Hamilton, seeing as he got to F1 before Hamilton. Even Vettel got to F1 before Lewis in 2006 and holds the record for youngest ever points scorer. Just sayin!
