Webber: We have just one goal for Silverstone

Mark Webber eyes his second win of F1 2012 at Silverstone

Red Bull Racing's Mark Weber has said he has only one target in mind for the British Grand Prix and that is to win.

Webber moved up to second in the 2012 F1 drivers' championship following his fifth fourth place finish of the year in Valencia, but with Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso 20 points ahead, he ideally needs to repeat at Silverstone what he did in Monaco, when he took the victory and the maximum 25-point haul.

“I'm really looking forward to the British Grand Prix and racing in front of a sell-out crowd that's passionate about F1,” Webber said ahead of the ninth round in the championship.

“Many of them will be there to cheer on the Brits, so there's some irony in the fact that Silverstone is actually the local track for both the Aussie F1 drivers on the grid; Daniel Ricciardo and I are based in Buckinghamshire!

“It's a great time of the year for British sport, with Wimbledon on at present and the Olympic Games just around the corner.

“I'm sure the British GP won't disappoint; we're going to Silverstone with one goal in mind and that's to win!”

Short and precise with optimism. Clear indication Mark is not open to Team Orders this year. A signal you can take the boy out of Australia but you can't take Australia out of the boy together with Ricciardo.

raindance - perhaps you spend too much time out in the rain? Do the likes of Scott Speed, or Christian Klien not spring to mind, you have a short memory. They were awful, a semi retired David Coulthard sh!t all over them. based on webbers form over the last 3 years i think he has done pretty well, keeping in mind the ebd did not suit his driving. for a driver at the end of his career he has compared pretty well to a driver at the beginning of his career who is obviously something else.
