Three-time F1 world champion Sir Jackie Stewart thinks that British Grand Prix winner Mark Webber should stay with Red Bull Racing.

The Australian's contract with the Salzburg-based energy drink firm expires at the end of this season and he has been tipped to replace the underperforming Felipe Massa at Scuderia Ferrari.

"If Mark goes there, the team would still favour Fernando Alonso. So for Mark, why should he change if he is currently in a winning position?" Stewart pondered in an interview with at Silverstone.

"That is why I stayed at Tyrrell, because I knew that Ken hires the best people in the business.

"I didn't want to drive for Lotus during my career, as they had a reputation of being fragile, although the current Lotus team is a different case altogether and I expect Kimi Raikkonen to win a race this year," added Stewart, who currently acts as an ambassador for Genii Capital, an investment firm, which brokered the ownership transfer of the ex-Renault F1 factory team to Lotus.

Sir Jackie conducted the post-race interviews on the Silverstone podium after the prize-giving ceremony and he thinks that both Webber and Alonso are up there with the all-time greats.

"In my time we had great drivers, such as Graham Hill, Emerson Fittipaldi, Jack Brabham, Francois Cevert and the current crops of drivers have similar depth of talent. But in my opinion Mark and Fernando are probably the best out there and they certainly are great ambassadors of the sport," he continued.
