Michael Schumacher has said he his 'highly motivated' and ready to begin talks with Mercedes about a new deal.
Schumacher's current three-year contract expires at the end of this season and having taken his first podium since 2006 last month in Valencia, the German is seemingly eager to keep on racing in 2013.
“There have been no discussions between Mercedes and myself on an extension. But these talks will take place and we will discuss a time for them,” he told Germany's Sport Bild
“I am not satisfied yet. I have achieved very little in this second part [of my career]. I'm still highly motivated - [although] only time will tell for how long,” added the seven-time F1 world champion.
Mercedes team principal, Ross Brawn meanwhile recently confirmed that he expects Schumacher to make a decision in the next couple of months.
“Over the next six weeks we need to think about what we want to do for the coming year,” Brawn added.
“Once Michael makes his decision we will know if we need to look around or just stick with what we have.”
