Lewis Hamilton's 2012 season may not have been the most harmonious in terms of results, but the McLaren star won't be singing the blues for too long after apparently agreeing to collaborate with rap star J Cole.

The Briton, who championship bid took another knock after he failed to better eighth place in Sunday's grand prix at Silverstone, attempted to put McLaren's discordant performance behind him with a lengthy night of partying in London which, according to the Sun newspaper, ended up with Cole inviting him to appear on a forthcoming recording project. The same publication last year broke the news that Hamilton had been making music in his spare time, and had already spent thousands of pounds on studio time.

He was introduced to Jay-Z prot?g? Cole during the British Grand Prix weekend, allegedly by chart favourite Rihanna, and then spent Tuesday night enjoying dinner and the clubs with the rapper.

"Lewis had a great night with J Cole," an unnamed source told the Sun, "He's a massive rap fan and J is really into F1 so they've bonded quickly. They had a long dinner with a group of girls and the rapper's manager, [and] J invited him to his studio the next time Lewis is in the US, saying they could work on music together. Lewis said he'd repay him by sorting him out at any grand prix he wanted to go to."

The 27-year old Cole is signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation label, but has yet to break out in the UK despite having had a #1 album in his native USA in 2011.
