Kimi Raikkonen believes Lotus will be strong this weekend in Germany and he has said there is 'no reason' they shouldn't be battling for another top-three finish.

Raikkonen took fifth in Britain two weeks ago, a result that lifted him up to fifth in the F1 2012 drivers' championship and increased his tally for the season to 83 points.

He is now looking forward to going to Hockenheim and he is hoping the weather will be sunny and hot as his Lotus E20 is kind to its tyres and that could give them a real advantage in the grand prix, when he will be gunning for his fourth rostrum of the year.

"We've got a good car, we understand the tyres quite well, we've shown that we can be fast and race well, there's no reason why we shouldn't be fighting for another podium," Raikkonen confirmed in the countdown to this weekend's tenth round in the championship.

"Some hot weather would be good [too]. Usually in Hockenheim it has been very hot and everybody has had problems with the tyres going off.

"Obviously, for us, the hot weather suits the car fine. Our car prefers the hot temperatures and in the long runs it's not that hard on tyres. Let's have some real summer weather in Hockenheim."

Raikkonen, however, has never done particularly well in Germany and as yet he hasn't won there.

"I've always enjoyed driving in Germany, but the problem is that luck has never been on my side there and something has always happened to stop me winning," he added.

"I've had four pole positions [though] which shows my speed on German soil, but six retirements haven't been what I wanted. Maybe it will all come together this year," he summed-up.
