Perez seeks Maldonado talks

Sergio Perez says that he intends to discuss his Silverstone accident with Pastor Maldonado when the pair meet up at the German Grand Prix.
Sergio Perez has revealed that he plans to sit down with Pastor Maldonado to try and clear the air after their lap twelve run-in at the British Grand Prix two weeks ago, but admits that his comments about the Venezuelan still stand.

The Sauber driver branded his Williams rival as both 'dangerous' and 'stupid' in the aftermath of the accident, which resulted in the Mexican's retirement, and would have been disappointed with the stewards' reaction to Maldonado's involvement, which merely saw the Spanish Grand Prix winner fined €10,000, despite it not being the first time he had appeared before them on charges of erratic driving.

Maldonado came to F1 with a reputation of veering between the sublime - witness some of his GP2 performances in Monaco - and the ridiculous, as evidenced by needless contact, but many felt that his success in Barcelona earlier this season bore the hallmarks of a driver who had matured sufficiently to be considered a contender at most races. Instead, since he stood on top of the podium in round five, the 2010 GP2 champion has failed to add to his tally, crashing out at the start in Monaco - after clashing with Perez in practice - throwing away a decent grid slot in Montreal after hitting the wall in qualifying and limping home twelfth after colliding with Lewis Hamilton in Valencia, when a podium return was on the cards. His clash with Perez at Silverstone restricted the Williams to a lapped 16th.

While Perez accepts that his comments were made in the heat of the moment, he remains unrepentant. Instead of letting things fester, however, Perez intends to seek out his rival before practice for the German Grand Prix gets underway at Hockenheim on Friday.

"I was very angry and I probably said things I should not have said, but they've been said," the Mexican was quoted by Sporting Life, "In the end, my opinion is the same. It was an unnecessary touch, an unnecessary crash. I think we will have a personal word. We're not kids and, in the drivers' briefing we will see each other, so we will talk."

Perez also remained optimistic that Maldonado will rein in his more tempestuous side over the second half of the season.

"Pastor drove in a very aggressive way, more than aggressive, so I think now he will change his style because he is a quick, very intelligent driver," he noted, "That's why he is in F1. He probably realises he has given away too many points because of his aggression. In my opinion, he should think about why he is getting so many reprimands, so many penalties, but, in the end, it is up to him to decide."

Hey Amigo, don’t think you need to be jealous after getting on the podium twice with an inferior race car.....I also think Maldonado is not dangerous like Perez said, Maldonado is just stupid.....
