Horner: Kimi is a factor in title battle

Christian Horner thinks Kimi Raikkonen could win the drivers' championship this season

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner believes Kimi Raikkonen is a factor in the battle for the F1 2012 drivers' title.

Raikkonen is enjoying a good season on his return with Lotus and while he hasn't won yet, he came close again in Hungary last weekend, trailing McLaren's Lewis Hamilton to the chequered flag and eventually finishing just one second back.

It was his second rostrum finish in a row and his fifth of the season, leaving him with 116 points in total - just one less than Hamilton and only 6 points behind Sebastian Vettel and 8 behind Mark Webber.

"Lotus are a factor and their car has been quick all year," Horner said in an interview with ESPNF1.com. “They've got two good drivers and Kimi for sure is a factor in the drivers' championship, I think he's only one point behind Lewis [Hamilton]. As I said from race two, it would be foolish to underestimate any of our rivals at the moment. There's still a long way to go.”

Horner's comments mirror those made recently by Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali, who also believes the Finn is a threat.
