Fernando Alonso may lead the drivers' championship at the halfway point, but despite his 40 point cushion, it is still far from certain who will take the title in 2012.
Indeed this season has been one of the most unpredictable for years, with seven different winners from the first seven races - including maiden wins for Nico Rosberg
and Pastor Maldonado - and thus far, only Alonso, Mark Webber
and Lewis Hamilton
have been able to win more than once.
It is a far cry from 2011, when Sebastian Vettel
dominated, but while the 2012 Pirelli tyres have undoubtedly spiced things up as the teams struggle to get them to work to their maximum, has it all become just a bit too random?
Is F1 now too much of a lottery or are we in the midst of one of the greatest seasons of all time?
