Bottas eager to stick with Williams

Valtteri Bottas eager to try and earn a race seat with Williams for 2012
Valtteri Bottas says he is keen to stick with the Williams team beyond this season and admits it would ideal to move into a race seat for the 2013 campaign.

Bottas has continued in his role of test and reserve driver this season and has produced a number of impressive performances in Friday practice sessions – leading to speculation that he is now being groomed for a race seat for next year.

Extra weight is added to the rumours that the 22-year-old will make his race debut next year by the fact that his career is overseen by Williams shareholder Toto Wolff and Bottas admitted it was be the perfect move for his career if he was to be in a Williams race seat for next year.

“It would be ideal,” he was quoted by Turun Sanomat. “I enjoy working with these people, and with Frank Williams. The team has a great history, and I'm involved with them for a third year. It makes me feel at home, so it would be great to stay here. I hope for a long career with Williams.”

One thing that could work against Bottas however is the level of sponsorship brought to the team by both Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna, but the youngster insisted it wasn't impossible that he could earn a drive.

“It's hard to say what opportunities there are,” he said. “It's too early yet. We are only halfway through, and the teams have plenty of time to decide. Nothing is impossible.”

His record is NOT impressive at all when you take into consideration who he beat and by what margin he did. Not to mention this guys hasn't raced GP2 and there comes my BIG question...WHY NOT? Because GP2 is a do or die series for a driver's career you do well and you might end up in F1 you do poorly go home race some GT class! Bottas' is trying to leapfrog that who wants not part with Valsechi Razia and others I personally can't see Bottas beating Razia or Valsechi and I think he knows that so he's trying the back door to F1! The problem with that is he's not getting enough time on an F1 car and he's not getting the real experience he should had at GP2 and in the process screwing Bruno Senna's weekend the entire season. Bottas might not be that bad but he's clearly NOT F1 material unless he can prove the opposite BACK in GP2!

I dont think he is hated, it is more a case of people thinking him being in the car so often weakens Senna's performance. Williams should have this guy for testing and let the drivers compete the entire weekend schedule. By taking away 90 minutes from Senna every weekend it certainly costs the team points.
