Felipe Massa made the most of the F1 summer break to hit the track at Interlagos during the latest rounds of the Copa Fiat stock car series.
Massa took part in the two free practice sessions for the event and was quickest in both as he was able to evaluate a series of updates that have recently been introduced in the series.
In the opening session, his time of 1min 51.411secs was eighth tenths of a second quicker than Cesinha Bonilha and although he was slower in FP2, the Ferrario man was still three-tenths clear of Andre Bragantini.
“A great job has been done and the car is much improved, more stable and easier to drive,” Massa said. “These characteristics are a great help to drivers who, like me, come from single-seaters.
“Today, having one set of tyres more than the others helped me but I was not expecting to be quicker than excellent and experienced drivers like Christian Fittipaldi, Cacà Bueno and André Bragantini, who are leading the championship. I will enjoy the races as a spectator and it will be a lot of fun!”
Massa then watched Sunday's racing from trackside.
