Young Driver test for Magny-Cours

Three teams to run at Magny-Cours for Young Driver sessions
Three F1 teams are to carry out their Young Driver test at Magny-Cours next month after confirmation that the French venue would play host to three days of running from 11-13 September.

The circuit, which hosted the French Grand Prix up until 2008, will welcome Ferrari, Mercedes and Force India for the test, with the three teams having elected to run in France rather than at Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi later in the year.

“I am thrilled to be able to confirm that Formula 1 cars will return to Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours next month,” the circuit's chairman of the board Serge Saulnier said. “We have worked tirelessly to upgrade the venue, which has just been homologated to F1 standards for another four years, and I am certain that the teams and drivers will appreciate the work that has been put in.

“What's more, this is an extremely positive step forward as we seek to return Formula 1 racing to our circuit. With Magny-Cours a candidate to host future French Grands Prix, it will be fantastic to showcase the track and our staff's know-how to the high-calibre F1 personnel who will be on-site.”

Williams, HRT and Marussia completed their Young Driver tests at Silverstone earlier in the year while Red Bull, Toro Rosso and McLaren are all set to run in Abu Dhabi – as was the case last year.

Plans are still to be finalised by the remaining teams.
