Pastor Maldonado will be demoted three places on the grid for the Belgian Grand Prix after stewards decided he had impeded Nico Hulkenberg in qualifying at Spa.

The Venezuelan had been under investigation after the incident in Q1, with stewards electing to hand down the penalty after investigating the evidence available.

As a result, Maldonado will drop from third on the grid to sixth, with Kimi Raikkonen, Sergio Perez and Fernando Alonso all making up a place as a result.

Despite the penalty, Maldonado will hope to add to his points tally having failed to score since taking victory in the Spanish Grand Prix at Catalunya back in May.
