Britain's Lewis Hamilton has insisted that he still doesn't know which team he will drive for in 2013.

Speculation about Hamilton's future intensified on Wednesday with fresh rumours linking him to Mercedes as a possible replacement for Michael Schumacher [see separate story - HERE].

While those reports were quickly played down by all three parties involved, with McLaren saying they were simply 'untrue' [see separate story - HERE], the topic unsurprisingly came up more than once during Thursday's FIA pre-event press conference ahead of this weekend's Italian Grand Prix.

"No [I don't know what team I will be with next year]," Hamilton told reporters when asked about the situation.

"We [McLaren] have won the last two races and hopefully I have a great weekend ahead of me - that's what I'm going to focus on.

"I don't have a deadline [for making a decision about my future], although obviously before next season would be useful!

"I'm in a great position and I just need to focus on the preparations for these races. There is a long way to go before the end of the season. Jenson [Button - my team-mate] showed [in Belgium] and I showed in the race before [in Hungary] that we have great potential in our car and team and that's what I need to focus on."

Asked what will be his priority when it comes to making a decision, Hamilton reiterated again that the main thing is to be able to win.

"I want to win. You always want to win every year you compete - that is why drivers and teams exist. I just need to think of the right place to do so," concluded the 2008 F1 world champion.
