Bianchi 'comfortable' with new Ferrari

Jules Bianchi says he felt comfortable in the Ferrari F2012 after day one of running at Magny-Cours
Jules Bianchi insisted that he felt 'immediately comfortable' with the 2012 Ferrari after sampling the car for the first time on the opening day of testing at Magny-Cours.

The Frenchman, a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, has spent this season action as test and reserve driver for Force India and has driven on Friday at a number of races this season.

He hadn't however had the chance to drive the Ferrari F2012 prior to the first day in France, where he emerged with the quickest time while working on a programme aimed at collecting aero data for the team.

“Today we tried various aerodynamic components which are not big evolutions for the car, but things already tried on Fridays at the races and brought here to confirm some of the data,” he said. “It's the first time I've driven this year's car and it was good opportunity for me to get some experience of it.

“I immediately felt comfortable, with a good pace, but right near the end of the session when I wanted to go for a time, we had a small electrical problem. Apart from that, it was a completely positive day: I really like driving this track and it's characteristics are particularly well suited to testing.”

Bianchi will drive for Force India today, with Davide Rigon in the Ferrari as he makes his debut in an official F1 test with the team.

“Driving any Formula 1 car in a test is sensational, but when the car is a Ferrari, it becomes a truly unique experience,” he said. “The main aim of the day will be to look more closely at the correlation between the track and the simulator, which is the workplace where I spend most of my time for the team.”
