Lewis Hamilton's future currently remains uncertain and while there were reports on Friday that it could all be decided by Singapore, it remains to be seen whether he will stay with McLaren
or opt to move to Mercedes or maybe even elsewhere...
Ahead of the recent Italian Grand Prix, former team boss-turned-BBC
analyst Eddie Jordan fuelled speculation of a pending move, when he said a deal between Hamilton and Mercedes could be 'imminent'. Fernando Alonso
has also since come out and said his rival is right to be considering leaving McLaren
[see separate story - HERE
], but most in the paddock still reckon he is likely to stay put, a view shared by the bookmakers.
Indeed William Hill have cut the odds of Hamilton moving on after punters rushed to back him to stay where he is. Offered at 17/20 on Friday, a concentrated number of punters based in the South of England were placing bets of up to £500 on Hamilton still being at McLaren
next season. The odds have now been slashed to 1/2. He is 6/4 to be at Mercedes next season and 10/1 to join any other team.
“A large percentage of the bets we took were within a 100km radius of McLaren's Woking base and so we think that there is now a very real possibility that Lewis will still be there come the start of next season,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
But what do you think Lewis should do?
