Lotus set to be unchanged

Eric Boullier suggests an unchanged line-up for Lotus in F1 2013
Team boss Eric Boullier has said that he doesn't expect any changes in the Lotus driver line-up for the 2013 F1 season.

Both Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean have impressed this year, the former putting himself in contention for the championship and the latter joining him the on the podium to show his speed but also picking up a one race ban for the accident at the start in Belgium.

Lotus has made no secret of its desire to keep both drivers for next year and speaking to the official F1 website, Boullier again reitereated that he didn't think there would be changes, with an option on Raikkonen set to be activated and Grosjean set to be offered an extended deal.

“I think it will look pretty much the same as what we have this season,” he said. “With Kimi we have a two-year contract, with an option.

“At the start he needed a while to get back up to pace and he probably didn't make the best out of qualifying. But in the race he proved himself to be a very good finisher. He had so many podiums in a row. I can he's more experienced and more mature. I think another reason for the change [since Raikkonen was last in F1] might also be that he is happy with his environment. I think he likes it around here.”

Much of the focus at Lotus is currently on trying to chase down Ferrari in the constructors' champion and Boullier said it was possible for the Enstone-based squad to hit its target.

“Their package is fast but they are mainly relying on one driver,” he said of Ferrari. “That is fine if you are chasing the drivers' championship, but it's not the strategy if you are chasing the constructors' championship. We are chasing the constructors' championship to give one of our drivers the chance to fight for the drivers' championship. And Kimi is now in a position where we will do everything to push him.”

@DPepperoni "the next step is to lead Kimi home in races which he will certainly do next year" Next year, the car will be designed to Kimi's liking and he will be better at qualifying. I think the gap between Kimi and Grosjean will be bigger next year, and in Kimi's favor!
