Massa confident 'things will be okay'
4 October 2012
Felipe Massa says he is confident that he will be with Ferrari again for the 2013 season after seeing one of the men linked with his seat secure a deal elsewhere.
Sergio Perez has been mentioned as one possible option to replace the Brazilian after a tough campaign that has again seen him to fail to break onto the podium, although recent events have seen an upturn in fortunes that could allow him to retain his seat alongside Fernando Alonso.
Although Force India pair Nico Hulkenberg and Paul di Resta continue to be linked with his drive, Massa said he was confident that things would be okay even if there was no additional news to provide at Suzuka ahead of the Japanese GP.
“Nothing at the moment,” he replied when asked if there was news, “but I'm pretty confident things will be OK.”
Pushed about whether Perez going to McLaren was an indication that he was more likely to be retained, Massa said he couldn't be sure but could only keep working hard to show he deserves another season with the Maranello-based squad.
“I don't know,” he said. “As I said, I'm pretty confident things are going in the right direction. Also, I think Sergio is doing a good job this year and he showed his performance and I'm happy that he can sign for a big team as well.
“Let's concentrate on having a good result and then we will see. As I said, things are not signed so it's better not to talk so much and concentrate on the job. We're going in the right direction so let's hope we can have a good race here, a good race in Korea and a good end to the championship. That's very important for me, for the team, for everybody.”
