Liam Venter has been making a name for himself in Europe this year as a potential Formula One driver and has been signed by Accelerate Driver Development Ltd (ADD), a UK-based leading management organisation with links to several F1 teams.
Venter, who is from Johannesburg in South Africa, has been consistently fast this season in the UK Dunlop InterSteps Championship and he is now keen to progress to Formula Renault and Formula 3 for winter testing to decide which route to take in 2013.
“Although Intersteps was a big jump from karting this year, it has been an excellent learning experience,” said Venter.
“I achieved several podium finishes against drivers with much more experience. My team, Falcon Racing, have done a great job and are keen to support me next year. I am delighted with my progress and very excited about my racing career.”
Working with Accelerate Driver Development Ltd (ADD) meanwhile has ensured that a number of F1 teams have recognised that the 17-year-old has all the raw ingredients to make it to F1.
Indeed three F1 teams are already aware of him and are said to be 'monitoring his progress'.
Graeme Glew, Director, Accelerate Driver Development Ltd (ADD), commented: “Having been involved in motorsport and Formula One for 30 years I have come across many talented young racing drivers from around the world. However, it is rare to find drivers with all the ingredients necessary to make it to the top - F1. Liam not only has the talent and speed, he has personality, intellect and his technical understanding is excellent.
“ADD fully believe we can fast track Liam to Formula 1 and we are very excited about his future.”
