Lotus adds Mortara, Valsecchi to test roster

Edoardo Mortara could be a surprise addition to Lotus' Abu Dhabi test line-up, alongside Nicolas Prost and Davide Valsecchi.
Double Macau Grand Prix winner Edoardo Mortara will get a chance to show what he can do at the wheel of an F1 car after being included among the roster of talent expected to join Lotus at next month's young driver test in Abu Dhabi.

According to Autosprint, the DTM ace - who has raced under the Audi awning for the past two seasons after believing that his single-seater career had reached its peak - will join the already announced Nicolas Prost and new GP2 Series champion Davide Valsecchi over the three days at Yas Marina, although the likelihood of landing a role with the Enstone team is thought to be remote, with Romain Grosjean and Kimi Raikkonen expected to remain onboard for 2013, with Jerome d'Ambrosio continuing at reserve.

Mortara's chance apparently comes after he was engaged by Lotus to work in its simulator between grands prix, and his 'performance' behind closed doors has now convinced the team that the Italian - a former F3 Euroseries rival of Grosjean's - is worthy of an opportunity to show what he can do in an actual F1 car.
