Giedo van der Garde says he is hopeful of agreeing a deal with Caterham 'soon' on the back of two days of running in the Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi.

The Dutch driver has driven for the team in Friday practice at a number of events this season, although he was forced to sit out much of FP1 ahead of the Yas Marina race after an electrical issue.

Van der Garde was however able to complete plenty of meaningful running during two days of action in the three-day test that followed.

The former GP2 racer has been hotly tipped to earn a race seat for 2013 with Caterham still to reveal either of its drivers for next season, and van der Garde said he hoped a deal could soon be done.

"I haven't signed yet but I hope to sign soon," he was quoted by ESPN. "I'm happy here, I think the team is a good bunch of people; they're working really hard and there's still new people coming. I'm quite happy here.

"The team already gave me very good feedback about how I'm doing, how I behave, how my attitude is, how I work with the team, so let's hopefully get forward and sign quickly and get preparation done for next year."
