Jenson Button fan? We have just the gift for you....

Jenson Button fans may be interested to know one of their hero's cars is for sale.....

F1 fans with a little spare cash need to hurry if they want to snap up a rarity in time to treat themselves, or a loved, one at Christmas.

Honda last appeared in the top flight in 2008, before transforming into the successful – if short-lived – Brawn team, and then becoming Mercedes. Before returning as a constructor in its own right, however, the Japanese marquee was an engine supplier to BAR, so it is not often that one of its cars come up for sale.

Now, though, a show car based on Jenson Button's 2003 racer has appeared on internet auction site eBay with a £25,000 price tag. According to Britain's Daily Mail newspaper, the car is being sold by Stafford Landrover, and is a not a fully-fledged race car.

“This car was purchased direct from Honda and was their 2003 Jenson Button show display car,” the sales information confirms, “It is without engine and gearbox and control pedals, but is complete with all carbon fibre bodywork intact. The steering wheel column rack and track rods are also in place and working.”

Button finished ninth in the championship driving sister machines to the one on offer, taking best finishes of fourth in both Austria and Japan, and remained with BAR, Honda and Brawn before becoming world champion with the latter six years later.

“Opportunities to purchase recent F1 show cars are few and far between,” the sales pitch continued, “The scope of use for this car is endless and can cover everything from commercial display to personal. Surely the perfect present for all Jenson Button fans.”

The car is due to remain on sale until Friday 16 September and, at the time of writing with two days left, had attracted a top bid of just over £14,000, thereby still failing to meet its reserve.
