Ma Qing Hua to get Friday run in Texas

Ma Qing Hua will get another FP1 outing at the US Grand Prix

HRT has confirmed that Ma Qing Hua will drive in Friday practice at the US Grand Prix this weekend.

The Chinese hopeful made a little history by becoming the first driver from his nation to take part in a full grand prix weekend at the Italian GP back in September and his run in FP1 tomorrow at the new Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas will mark his fifth time at the wheel of the F112. He will then hand the car back to Narain Karthikeyan.

“It's fantastic to be able to step back into the car for a free practice session and to do so at a new circuit for every team and driver makes it even more special and fun,” said Hua.

“Being the first out on track to help the team is a great responsibility and I want to thank them again for the opportunity they're giving me.

“Little by little I'm racking up more miles and gaining the necessary experience to grow as a driver, and the continuity I'm getting is also important to help my confidence. Last week I was in Shanghai and received a lot of support from my country, which makes me work even harder to be prepared for any challenge,” he added.

"I didn't think it would be possible but HRT have lowered the bar for F1 even more..." Did you even watch F1 in the 80s and 90s? Often a good portion of the field were on one or two race contracts, and a privateer team could field several drivers in one car throughout a year. HRT have already done a similar thing in 2010 when Yamamoto and Klien bought themselves drives in the #20 car. And in 2011 Red Bull bought the #23 seat for Ricciardo. People always complain that not enough young drivers get a chance in F1. Then when they do get a chance everyone complains about them being a pay driver. Make your minds up.

No Ak, the only one bringing race into the equation is you I'm afraid. Karthikeyan has driven 46 races across three different seasons. Ma Qing Hua has driven three practice sessions. The kid is new to the game, Narian has been around long enough to earn his criticism.
