Hamilton thrilled with star-spangled win

Lewis Hamilton was visibly thrilled with victory in the 2012 United States Grand Prix, which he described as one of if not the best race of the entire season.
Lewis Hamilton looked as happy and delighted with his win at the Circuit of the Americas in the 2012 United States Grand Prix as he has been in the past with any of the 20 previous Grand Prix victories that had preceded it.

Hamilton admitted that he had almost lost his voice at the end of the race after he celebrated his victory by deafening the team over the radio communications during the cool-down lap.

"I was screaming the whole time," he revealed. "Not cool at all but I'm just so happy. To come back here, after such a long time, and win is something really special."

Hamilton was the last winner of the United Stated Grand Prix when it was held at Indianapolis in 2007; and he's now the first winner of the event in its inaugural running at its new home in Austin, Texas.

"It's been one of the best, if not the best, Grands Prix we've had all year," was Hamilton's view of the event. "For me and my team this is so special. It's been a long time since I've had a win and I'm so proud of what they have done.

The victory has particular significance, after two likely wins in recent months slipped through his fingers due to technical issues while Hamilton was in the lead of the race. Reliability concerns had certainly been in his mind in the final laps at COTA, he admitted.

"I rubbed the car and said 'Come on baby, we can make it'," he said - a tactic that obviously worked, as the McLaren suffered no glitches at all on Sunday.

The decisive moment came on lap 42 when when Hamilton finally got within DRS activation zone of the back of Sebastian Vettel's Red Bull, and was able to take advantage of Vettel having to deal with lapped traffic in order to make his own dive down the inside into turn 11.

Even so, "Overtaking Vettel wasn't easy," Hamilton insisted. "It was actually quite tricky. When I finally got close to him, I seemed to be catching him in the first sector and that was difficult.

err i was looking at the driver standings and i saw that Hamster has 190 points and Jenson has 163 points with one race to go does that mean Lewis has beaten button again? Bob it seems like RGB was right about Jenson not beating Hamster if he is fully focused
